Virginia stocked trout program: An evaluation of anglers and their catch

Broadly, this project focuses on identifying who customers of the stocked trout program are, what they want out of the program, and how they interact with the trout fisheries as they currently are. More specifically, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, I conducted on-site angler-creel surveys in hopes of identify market segmentations of stocked trout anglers in Virginia, and their respective motivations for fishing, preferences on when and where to fish, and their satisfaction with their fishing experiences and the management of the program. Additionally, this project assessed catch and harvest rates, and total angler effort. I compared these rates across types of water bodies, types of fisheries, seasons, regions in Virginia, stream temperature, and number of days post-stocking.
